Actually, let me be more specific - if you have your system formatted in NTFS, then the file/folder names are stored in the MFT (master file table) case sensitive - however, at the OS filesystem level, the names are case-insensitive. MS could simply flip a switch and make the filesystem case sensitive like the various *nix file systems.

Another nasty feature Windows has is hiding extensions of known file types. Make sure your file's true name is not something like updateepg.bat.bat

Change view options in windows explorer to see full name of file.

OR updateepg.bat.txt - Notepad has a bad habit that if you don't select All files when saving, it will add a .txt to the tail end.
