Any possibility of adding support for animated gif files?

I was using the MVP HTML mod where the media.html is replaced with a listing of other web pages. I could call up pages with animated gifs and they viewed fin on the MVP.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

i thought the reason well one of the reasons was refresh time on the MVP, and in general. mpeg files have been tried in the past, animating images by painting one after another have been tried, i think theres a problem with animated gifs (not sure what it is, read something ages ago, memory is bad). all i know is animation arent expected any time soon. flash has been discussed and reject, at the end of they day you dont want something that looks really pretty but hangs, you want something that looks pretty and is responsive, animations slow everything down, look at mediaportal, thats too pretty for its own good.

Sorry to say but I have been testing the latest MVP client for SAGE and it is alot more responsive then the GBPVR MVP screens. You get the whole interface on the MVP now, just like GBPVR. Their Weather Plug-in even displays the animated radar images just as well as a web page. The menu are very responsive, the guide searches and schedules requests are almost instant, editing a schedule is also instant. I have not once gotten the lost connection screen due to delays in requesting data/screen refreshing. They are using a standard dongle.bin file, it is newer then the one GBPVR uses.

Should the screen painting/converting/sending to MVP be revisited? SAGE is written in Java so they are not using any special optimized assembly code, and is the access database slowing thing down for GBPVR.

Just doing some comparison testing and surprised by what I am seeing.

From my own testing between MSDE and Access there is a performance hit when using Access. Though sub has to weigh the bulk of adding MSDE with the simplicity of using Access as the database. Advantages and disadvantages to both.
