My current video card is a ASUS ATI 9600xt. It seems to be darker and has a cloudiness to it. Any quick suggestions besides drivers and actual card adjustments? It's not the TV as I can get a better picture with my old card but GBPVR does not support it. I'll probably pick a cheap AGP card if I can't get the pic quality I am looking for. Is Directx9 a requirement for GBPVR or can I get away with Directx 8? Thanks for any info

i know you say suggestions besides drivers and card adjustments -that leaves nothing
the drivers is where its at if using s-video out or composite you just have to go through them all also try changing the resolution 720x480 60hz if you can sharpness different video decoder can also make a difference make sure the cables are inserted fully or try a different cable you can use overlay but agp cards are not really cheap anymore as they are not been improved on so you probably wont be able to get a better card than you already have

If you can run Vista then I would very much suggest EVR renderer. Out of everything that I have done card, decoders etc this has made by far the biggest difference to TV quality.
My system a bit of chugger and i had to increase the memory from 512 to 1gig (have since gone to 2gig) but bar the odd torrent file download its pretty much a dedicated GBPVR box and once GBPVR is up an running (and i leave it on for weeks between reoots) it runs quickly enough.
MSI FA-4 speedster, Pentium M 2.0, 2 gig memory ,nvidia 210, Samsung Ecogreen 1.5 Terabyte Hard Drive

I saw a 9200 for $20 shipped and it said it supported Directx8, I just wanted to be I could use it. I was thinking about trying this as right now even my older ATI 8MB seems to be clearer (just can't run it with GBPVR). I most likely will be getting a newer system. My current box takes RAMBUS and it's too much too upgrade. I can't believe how much people want for older ram, it just makes my decision to upgrade eaiser. I'm going to look into a high def card with clear QAM. I was just trying to get by with this one for now. Guess we'll see what Black Friday has in store for us. |
