The NMTInstall program has been designed to require a minimum user input, and you are strongly recommended to accept all defaults especially if you have not installed GBPVR before. If you are interested read Part V for information on what is being done.

These instruction will only work if you can set up a guest share on your server which on 2000/XP means Simple File Sharing is enabled and in Vista you need to disable Password Protected Sharing. Part VI has additional information links on this.

I. Download and Installation

To prepare you need to obtain and run this small install program http://http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwi...stall2.exe and have the MAC address of your NMT ready to enter when prompted. If you are still using GB-PVR you can use this to install mvpmcx2 too.

a. Select your installation options. Existing GB-PVR users could remove all the choices in the first option except for installing mvpmcx2 and can decide whether they want to try the new skins and plugins in the second. Installing the GB-PVR updates in part 1 is still recommended.

b. Select the location for your client files (default recommended). If you want to use a USB drive on the NMT, insert the USB drive and chose it as the destination. This is not important for CSI hard disk installations, but it is a good idea to keep the folder so GB-PVR updates are only downloaded once.

c. Enter the MAC address, mode (PCH2 recommended) and desired menu resolution. Here is the screen with some additional comments http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=4

d. (New Users Only) Accept all defaults on the GB-PVR install until you click on Finish.

e. Hit OK if the GB-PVR Configuration program launches (don't change anything in the configuration at this point) You will be prompted to retry until configuration is finished.

f. Review the Details for errors and hit Close on the installer when finished.

If you are using the CSI to install to the NMT disk you can skip the next two steps.

II. Test Connection

Note that some NMT devices could be supplied with old firmware that is not compatible with mvpmcx2. If the firmware date (shown on Setup->Maintenance is older than 01-17-<b>080808</b>-15-POP-402-000 you will need to update. Confirm the version after you do the update too, some people have needed to do this a couple of times.

After the installation is complete you are ready to test the connection. Before proceeding you will need to change the Video mode on the NMT Setup screen to something other then Auto. (Auto is available as advanced configuration only) Once your video monitor is setup, run the Network Browser from the Source menu. Select your PC and then select the mvpmc share. Use either the remote to select the fourth icon or hit the blue remote key to change the display selection to select and run GB-PVR. 3 selections will be presented, choose the option open GB-PVR via the Network Browser. GB-PVR should open. If it opens, but you don't see the Mayhem3 skin you probably entered the wrong MAC address in Step I. Fortunately your connection is ok and not optimized for the NMT.

Hitting the power button will get you back to the normal NMT menu.

III. Finalize the configuration

At this point you can continue to use the Network Browser to access GB-PVR however I recommend installing the mvpmc share as an NMT Source for direct access. From the Setup->Network screen just add the mvpmc share as a configured share. Don't change the name unless you also want to change startup script (gbpvr.cgi) in the mvpmc folder.

An optional advanced configuration is to edit gbpvr.cgi to the one line you will use, and if desired type it into the Web Service screen so that is stored in flash for easiest access. For example I hit Web Service Source 3 to get to GB-PVR anytime from the NMT menu.

IV. Install Media (New Users Only)

Now you are ready to tell GB-PVR about your Media. From the Start Menu Launch the GBPVR config program. Go to the Directories Tab and add the appropriate folders for all you local and shared media that you want to access. After you have updated all the directories hit OK to save your changes.

Part V Additional Info.

The following could be downloaded and installed with this program if selected. The program doesn't call home but it does connect to GBPVR.com, and microsoft.com to get files.

- VS 2005 Runtime
- .NET 2.0
- GBPVR 1.3.11
- recommended patches for GB-PVR

Also include are the optional MixMan/BekKen enhancements to enhance the NMT experience
- Mayem3 skin
- Music Plugin

The destination folder that you chose will be allowed Guest access and a share will be created. If you want to deny Guest write permissions to the folder you will need to do this manually. If you don't have Simple File Sharing turned on, or permit Guest access, you will need to do an advanced configuration.

GB-PVR's config.xml is also updated with relevant NMT entries.

Applying a patch could require you to restart the GBPVR Tray icon manually.

The install program will open PVRX2.exe and GBPVRRecordingService.exe through the Windows Firewall on your local subnet. You have to manage other firewalls yourself

Note when you add your mvpmc share to your NMT, to be compatible with installation program, please leave the Share Name field blank when you get to this screen. It will be automatically filled with the proper name.

During NMTInstall you will be presented with the following screen.

The MAC address and screen settings are only used when you select to update the GB-PVR PCH settings. They really are only needed when adding devices for the first time and can be left as is at other times.

When you select installation of mvpmcx2 the latest versions of the original or current versions will be downloaded from mvpmc.org. Selecting the original PCH version is not recommended.

The menu resolution should be left at 720p even if you use a 1080i/p monitor. Videos will play at the higher resolution but the menu screens will be a lot faster.

I have uploaded a new version of NMTInstall which separates installing mvpmcx2 and GB-PVR. Here is an screen shot of how to just update mvpmcx2
Otherwise there is no new functionality.
