I know that GBPVR supports the position that the user stopped the video at. I think it could be useful to provide an api that allows a developer to invoke the play video api with an offset. Frame or time is fine.

I think we can build a scene selection if we have this functionality. At least specify a bunch of times that they can start the video at. Eventually if we can find a freeware command line to save stills of a mpeg we can provide a fancy scene selection.

allowing chapter points would be a really nice feature, so pressing say the red button when playing back a video or something adds a chapter point at the current position. this would be extremely handy when it comes to dvd burning and their chapters.

Jorm, I wont be able to add this for the next release, but maybe the one after.

Reven, I think I've long since run out of keys for this type of stuff. I'm getting to the poing where I'm considering making one of the color keys the 'special function' key. It would behave differently depending on the button that was pressed before it. Things that may be attached could include the chapter points thing you mention, adjusting the color/contrast, changing the aspect ration etc...

yeah ill leave the UI up to you, just chapter points would be a really nice feature, perhaps if you used a osd menu like xbmc does (if you never seen it, just google it youll find images that will show you what i mean) which allows for pause, play, chapters, the whole nine yards. which perhaps menu button could pull up, and stop just quit. or something. it would require some work, but once done would be a cool feature.

sub that sounds great. Thank you.

Now I just need to find a free command line utility that extracts a still from a mpeg at a frame offset.

Jorm, this might be of some help, or might get you going down the right direction.

King Argyle,

I checked your link and have been looking around. Supprisingly it is a difficult utility to find.

I have found several that want to convert the entire mpeg to jpgs. That is a bit too much. [Image: smile.gif] I thought I had it with image magick but the call does not seem to work.

I am just looking for a utility that I can call from the command line that
f(mpegfile, frameoffset) -> picture in some form.

Don't know if this supports what you want:

Also, have you checked into VirtualDub to see if it has the ability to just extract a frame based on offset? I know virtualdub has a ton of command line options.
