i have tried both ways and maybe it came down to quality of the components but i liked them been separate because then i could try them in different places
ie i added the amp at the entry point to the house then had it split closer to where the tv etc is i found this gave me the best result as compared to having the amp and splitter close to the tv

Someone in another thread posted a link to this 8-way amplified splitter:
http://www.amazon.com/Bi-Directional-Amp...834&sr=8-1
and said that he was quite happy with it.

Yeah, I prefer it that way too - amp as close as possible to the cable co drop and then splitters where it's convenient. A homerun system where all go to one central point is nice, but many times a couple central points may be better. I just did a friends house and one end has the living room, family room, and kitchen. The other end has the bedrooms and dens. It was easier to split it into two feeds and feed one end off a four way splitter and the other off of another four way splitter - saved a lot of wire.

Beyond splitters, one can run a tap system where you can run just one trunk line and use taps, which are unequal splitters, to just drop off as much signal as you need per tap. That saves a ton of wiring too but requires a bit more thought when designing the system and it seems bidrectional equipment isn't as happy with taps.

Many ways to skin a cat, but when things are combined into one it makes it less flexible if you need to make changes later.

Steve

PCT is a good brand, I've not had any problems with them and I've used several.

Is there a registry setting to disable NICAM sound on the PVR-150? I think if I could force it to analogue sound only I'd probably be okay.

I have looked into an 8-wap amplified splitter and I think it will do the jobs. But still, I have a gut feeling that the problems I am having right now will not be corrected with the boosted signal. I mean, I see green and purple/blue shadows on the left of almost every object on TV. Has anyone ever had this problem? Could it really be the signal?

Your earlier post made me think that you had confirmed that signal/noise was the problem and not the PVR150 configuration.....

Quote:I actually tried connecting the PVR-150 to the cable running into the office directly. The picture is amazing! And that is with the 5-way splitter between the house and the PVR.

The splitter setup is definitely part of the problem. But even with the minimal amount of splitters, there always is some type of slight shadow, either green or yellow. Maybe I should upload a recording. Do you think that world help?
