Hi!

The latest version works without any error and man this version is simply spectacular!!

after finding results we get to preview the entries and can choose an alternative if one exists..

thank you so much for this wonderful program!!!

this has opened up some thought on how I might proceed in the future? do I move all correctly defined titles to a new directory to stay or keep them where they are a fear losing the verified info into possible incorrect results when doing a new scan?

if after taking the time to correct a number of incorrect results and become satisfied with the results then if we search the dir again after some newer files are placed there then most likely we will be presented possibly with the incorrect titles?

Is there the possibility for a feature request to maybe ad a flag to the xml such as a double confirmed the data as correct? so this way if we have went through the database and select double confirmed then it writes a flag to each xml and the software will hardcoded ignore anymore requests for the user confirmed titles? so it will always skip those confirmed files and it will search out newly added files and dirs?

it's hard to explain...

and in the alternative searched menu can there be a simple search field added somewhere so we can input a different title to get a possible better result if non are satisfactory? Edit - already implemented in the single retrieve button

and lastly I see you are using the visible xml's to the video file... do you have plans to add the hidden xml's found in the ntfs alternative data stream?

in the NTFS filesystem, metadata information about the recording is saved as an 'Alternate Data Stream' on the video file. To view the metadata, you can type "notepad c:\path\recording.mpg:metadata.xml".

GBPVR creates this when a recording is made.

sorry for the long post but I had to get the ideas out quickly before I forgot them haha

thank you for your hard work JavaWiz.

Cheers!

a great example of what i mean would be the movie "21" from 2008

when I select the proper title and do a re-search it goes back to a 1977 movie

Excellent! Glad we got it working.

Take a look at the options screen. There is options to replace existing metadata and/or thumbnail. Uncheck both these, the program will NOT overwrite existing data.

Actually, I am working on some code right now to do just this. I am making it generic (ie in the WizDLLs) so other programmers can take advantage of this functionality. Look for it in a future release.

The problem I can see is that gbpvr writes metadata info on every new file so checking or unchecking the options will have potentially unexpected results in a large database to keep track of.

maybe an extra line in the xml "0 or 1" to auto skip those files that we have manually edited in the grabber to be correct button? maybe even add a new files found menu to make for even easier manual checking without having to go through the hundreds of files already checked?

just ideas... I don't know if these features will be useful to everyone as I test and tweak things a lot and just thinking about preventing repetitiveness when it comes to having to re-enter all the file info after deleting the database or simply removing and adding hard drive and directories etc.....

cheers!

I can't wait to see what you have coming in future releases!

I hope you can chat to one of the community skin developers and get together to make a full featured mainframe with all the new metadata and cover art auto updating and maybe even a simple in-pvr editing popup much like already available in the grabber with a few remote clicks you can select the correct movie title from the net.

movies like psycho tend to be in the wrong year and thus not the right movie so that really helps one if they need to change something on the fly
