For the moment I have the config set to store recordings on a network share (tons more space than the internal HD) As I continued recording shows I would see the list of avail. recordings grow, watch a few and delete, and so on, but a couple days ago I noticed that the list was almost empty! Files are still there, but the refference to them is missing.

Now thinking along the network side, the server I am using for storage has always been up so no loss of connectivity should be an issue.
Is there a process which goes through and cleans out the the DB entry for recordings?

This is also reflected in the EWA manage recordings screen.
Thanks!

Personally, I wouldnt recommend recording to a network drive, but if you are then you probably need to set <AutoRemoveMissingRecordings> to 'false' in config.xml.

Ah! that is the setting I had in mind.
I was a bit leary of the network idea for a bit, but after testing it with a few recordings I don't see any kind of performance decrease or any other issue for that matter (other than this).
I run 2 HP Procurve switches with a fiber backbone so network speeds bogging down should not be an issue for a while!

Any possible way to add the 'missing recordings' back into the list? I suppose for the mean time its easier to watch them on the computer and delete them via NFS.

You can bet there will be times when the network drive cant be reached for one reason or another, causing recording failures.

Maybe try the vidimport utility on the wiki.

Excellent! I'll give that utility a try.
At some point I'll get a new HD and mirror everything over. But until then that server is on a rather large UPS system so other than network services failing I should be ok. I don't watch a ton of TV, so if I record these shows great, if I don't it's ok. :-)
Thanks sub!
