I am not sure what has happened. I have not changed anything on my computer and no new updates have been installed. I run Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

It seems like playback of recordings no longer works and is distorted. Live TV works fine.

If I switch from VMR9 Custom to Overlay, the recordings play. I have always used VMR9 so I am not sure what is going on. Attached are my logs. Thanks!

I have tried different video decoders but that doesn't help.

My guess is you've installed some software on your machine which has included decoders, and its changed the default decoders that Window's will use:
Quote:2011-03-29 01:41:35.583 VERBOSE Graph contains the following filters:
2011-03-29 01:41:35.583 VERBOSE - Video Renderer
2011-03-29 01:41:35.583 VERBOSE - Speakers (VIA High Definition A
2011-03-29 01:41:35.583 VERBOSE - Nokia H264Dec HP/MP Filter
2011-03-29 01:41:35.583 VERBOSE - Emuzed AAC/AAC+ Decoder TFilter

2011-03-29 01:41:35.583 VERBOSE - D:\Recorded TV\Secrets of World War II\Secrets of World War II_20110328_12001300.mp4
Thats a really odd combination of decoders your machine is picking. I've never seen them in another user's log.

I stand corrected. I have a Nokia cell phone hooked up to my computer. It updated to the latest version of their software now called OVI. Wasn't there a program for Windows to set the default decoders? It's been awhile. Why doesn't GBPVR use the decoders I have set in it?

EDIT: I found the program at... http://thedigitallifestyle.com/cs/tdl/b/...-vmcd.aspx

BUT it only lists the default Microsoft DTV-DVD decoders.

A few days ago someone posted the name of utility for changing the decoder merit, but unfortunately the name escapes me at the moment.

Not being "real" recordings mp4 files play with Windows defaults.

Try to find DirectShow Filter Manager, you should be able to set the merits of the decoders with it. You'll want the Microsoft DTV-DVD decoder to have higher merit than the Nokia decoder. I don't know about the audio. There might be a bit of cut-and-try with this. Good luck.

I cut out the Nokia Ovi software cancer which fixed everything. I wonder why telephone software needs video and audio decoders. Weird.
