G'day guys,

I'm having problems getting good recordings. They used to work for SD, but I just can't get back to that place.

This is my setup:
AMD Atthlon 64 3200+
2 GB RAM
2 Leadtek DTV1000T tuners
NVidia GeForce 6600
GB-PVR 1.3.11
Windows XP SP3

I've tried all the muxes I can find and nothing will record smoothly. All the old recordings playback smoothly, though. I've checked CPU load during recording and it's down around 10% or lower.

Bizarrely, HD seems to record better than SD, although both are still choppy.

Does anyone have any clues? I've zipped the logs and attached them.

Cheers,

Guy

Does changing to the DVR-MS mux improve your recordings?

Has your signal quality reduced?

No, the dvr-ms mux is just as bad.

How do you test signal quality? LiveTV works flawlessly, even in HD.

Live TV and recordings choose a different tuner, top down vs bottom up in the capture source list, so I wonder if one of your tuners is working well and you other one isnt.

I swapped them around and checked playback and couldn't see any difference.

I'd backup your gbpvr.db3, then delete one capture source, so that you've only got the one it can chooes, then check how it performs for both live tv and recordings.

Thanks sub. Gave that a crack with identical results on both cards. Both watched TV flawlessly in both SD and HD, yet recordings were choppy.

Well, interesting update. I rolled the drivers on the Leadtek cards back to .3204 (a 2005 driver), instead of .3218 and onwards and my situation was reset back to how it used to be. The HD is now a little choppy to watch and records terribly, but the SD records and watches fine. So this seems to be a painful driver issue. Groan.
