My main video card is a PVR250. It has been working fine. Upgraded to the latest version of gbpvr but had to back it out because it was not stopping recordings after the set time. So just installed the earlier version.

Also had problems with config.xml so went back to the dont-edit one, renamed it, reset the parameters etc.

Now for some reason all recordings via my PVR50 (via composite) are overly washed out. I don't think I have changed any settings on the card and can't see where in gbpvr you can adjust brightness settings for recording. The recordings are washed out playing in gbpvr or VLC.

Older recordings made with the card are fine so it's a gbpvr setting I think but can't work out where I should be looking

Any ideas appreciated, thanks

I dont know. Nothings changed for analog in a very long time. There is no settings in config.xml that will effect the quality of your recordings. The only GB-PVR settings that would have any effect on your PVR250 would be in "direct.ini", but these havnt changed in years.

It's wierd. I went to the Hauppauge Tweak Tool and saw that for the 250 brightness was set at the max. Tried to reset it back to default and rebooted but it won't stick. So I guess that's what is causing the problem but no idea how to fix it apart possibly from de-installing and re-installing the card.

I looked at direct.ini and there are the following lines

[SETUP-VideoProcAmp]
; valid values are 0 - 100 or AUTO
; AUTO tells GB-PVR to not set the property, but instead rely on driver defaults (AUTO is in upper case).
Brightness=100
Contrast=AUTO
Hue=AUTO
Saturation=AUTO
Sharpness=AUTO
Gamma=50
WhiteBalance=AUTO
Gain=AUTO

I set Brightness back to AUTO and Gamma to AUTO and restarted the Recording Service. Thought that looked likely

Alas same problem - still washed out recordings

Interestingly looking at the backups of gbpvr I have taken, both those value are set to AUTO in them.

Yes, the files are distributed with these all set to AUTO, so you must have manually edited them in the past. (The app only reads the file, and never updates any of those settings)

I'm not sure what the HauppaugeTweakTool does exactly, but it may also be overriding the driver defaults.

Well it seems to be fixed now. Changed the settings in driver.ini and then ran the Tweak tool again and changed the settings in the Video Proc Amp to defaults. Now the recordings are fine. I don't ever recall changing the settings in direct.ini - I would have remembered so don't know what happened.

Thanks for the tips
