No change at all in the TV Guide font size problem for me with the new release (the problem for me has been consistent from the beta to 4.0 to 4.0.1). Yes, I did uninstall the original version first, and made sure the skin2 directory had no trace of the skin. The default font size is huge as shown in the screenshot I posted above, -2 looks ok but the timeline is getting hard to see, and -2 makes the liveTv mini-guide (3 line) rather on the small side. Conversely, at the default 0 size the mini-guide is perfect.

Can someone point me to the changes I can make myself to increase the TV Guide timeline size relative to the rest of the text, and also increase the mini-guide text size? I think the mini-guide text size *should* be the same size as the regular full guide.

edit: nevermind, I found them - here are the lines as they were with the TV Guide text size set to -2 by the skin plugin:

skin.xml:
Code:
<TextStyles>
    <TextStyle name="ListingStyle" color="#f0f0f0" size="11" />
    <TextStyle name="TimelineStyle" color="#f0f0f0" size="9" />
  </TextStyles>

live-skin.xml:
Code:
<TextStyles>
    <TextStyle name="ListingStyle" color="#f0f0f0" size="9" />
    <TextStyle name="TimelineStyle" color="#f0f0f0" size="9" />
  </TextStyles>

I've set the ListingStyle size to 11, and the TimelineStyle size to 10 in both files. Now it looks pretty good all around.

First off, great work on Comunity Skin 4!! I love it. I don't seem to have the text size problem, I just dialed it down to -2 and it worked for me, but I have a little different guide problem. Right now it shows icon and label, and I would like to have icon and number. (The icon has the name of the channel anyway). I remember seeing a setting in config to change the display, but I can't find it now. Is that possible?

You have to edit the config.xml file, the wiki has the values to change it too.

Ok, thanks for the info. Will look at those changes and see how they work out on my end.

Thanks Fatman_do, I looked all through the forums for this and never thought of the wiki!! However, there is no option for icon and number.

ok, I finally figured out how to fix this TV Guide Text Size issue at the root level, so that the default size is something reasonable, changing the theme doesn't undo the change, and changing the text size using the plugin actually has a reasonable result (though there's really no need for me to change the size using the skin plugin any more, since the default size I'm setting is what I want it to be).

First, in \Plugins\SkinPlugin4\SkinPluginConfig.xml I set these starting sizes:
Code:
<editableSkinItem>
      <id>Text.TVGuideSize</id>
      <category>Text</category>
      <name>TV Guide Text Size</name>
      <description>The text sizes used for the listings in the default GB-PVR TV Guide plugin</description>
      <resources>Text\TextSize</resources>
      <previews>1005</previews>
      <files>
        <xmltextsizeedit>
          <name>skin.xml</name>
          <target>%SKINROOT%\TV Guide\skin.xml</target>
          <node>/settings/TextStyles/TextStyle[@name='ListingStyle']/@size</node>
          <default>[color=Red]11[/color]</default>
        </xmltextsizeedit>
        <xmltextsizeedit>
          <name>skin.xml</name>
          <target>%SKINROOT%\TV Guide\skin.xml</target>
          <node>/settings/TextStyles/TextStyle[@name='TimelineStyle']/@size</node>
          <default>[color=Red]10[/color]</default>
        </xmltextsizeedit>
        <xmltextsizeedit>
          <name>live-skin.xml</name>
          <target>%SKINROOT%\TV Guide\live-skin.xml</target>
          <node>/settings/TextStyles/TextStyle[@name='ListingStyle']/@size</node>
          <default>[color=Red]11[/color]</default>
        </xmltextsizeedit>
        <xmltextsizeedit>
          <name>live-skin.xml</name>
          <target>%SKINROOT%\TV Guide\live-skin.xml</target>
          <node>/settings/TextStyles/TextStyle[@name='TimelineStyle']/@size</node>
          <default>[color=Red]10[/color]</default>
        </xmltextsizeedit>
This section is near the end of the file. The default settings were 13,11,11,11. I made the same changes in the <!---Legacy> section that followed, I have no idea if that matters.

Then to keep everything consistent, in each skin.xml file under Plugins\SkinPlugin4\Resources\Layout\TVGuide & LiveGuide I changed these lines:
Code:
    <TextStyles>
        <TextStyle name="ListingStyle" color="#f0f0f0" size="[color=red]11[/color]"/>
        <TextStyle name="TimelineStyle" color="#f0f0f0" size="[color=red]10[/color]"/>
    </TextStyles>
So now the default text sizes in the various skin.xml (and live-skin.xml) files match the starting text sizes defined in the SkinPluginConfig.xml file. I can now change themes to my heart's content, and the text sizes stay the same.

If the CS4 devs should see fit to incorporate my changes in a future release that would be great. If the starting sizes are set to what they were because that's what the devs want them to be, then at least I and anyone else who wants them to be different only have to make these changes once each time we install a new version of CS4.

Yeah we went with those text sizing based on feedback. They're a little larger than sub's default blue but I think they probably suit the majority.

I guess I'm surprised that you would want the 3-line live tv guide to be 2 points smaller than the regular TV Guide... I can't think of any reason that they shouldn't be the same size. But that's the beauty here - having figured out how the system works, I can change it if I want to. A big thank you to all CS devs.

That's a good point, I don't know if it's to accommodate a difference in the (OSD) live_guide (size/rendering) - or I was blindly following sub's blue layout (more likely Smile). It makes sense that they should be the same size, if there is a general consensus for that then we could/should make those changes.
