Hi, I just installed gbpvr. Running XP, Service pack 3, 4 gigs ram, AMD dual core AM2 processor with a brand new Hauppauge 1600 card. I have two real annoying problems and a question.

1. In the config program, anytime I hit the OK button to exit an area, it takes FOREVER to close the window I was working in. I've mainly noticed it in the capture setup area, but that's the part of setup I'm using the most. Also, the config program has locked up on me a few times as well.

2. I've setup a QAM capture entry, and mapped some channels to QAM entries, but when I go to the viewer, the mapped entries don't work. When I go back into setup to check them, they are checkmarked and assigned to the proper channels. What am i doing wrong?

3. Is there any way to view the raw QAM channels in the viewer. I'm having trouble identifying some of the channels, and it would help to hear the audio.

Thanks,

When you go to bind the channels can you see and hear the channel in the small preview screen on the top right? You are seeing the frequencies listed on the right side, correct?

I can see the channels, but not hear them. Audio works fine in the viewer program, except, of course, no QAM channels.

Thanks,

oh, yeah, I can see the channel numbers. That's how I can map them. i.e. 80.1 etc.

I can also double-click the preview box and then I get a big screen without audio. When i close that, it exits the channel mapping area completely. That's kind of weird, should go back to the channel mapper, IMHO.

thx,

sure its not a music channel? i had some av issues and i installed cccp and that resolved it all. In my experience on some frequencies I can see, but not hear and it was usually the channles with 2 entries one of 'em had ac3 attached to it, that was the one I could not hear.

you probably need to install an AC3 decoder. many us digital channels use ac3 audio. AC3Filter works, as does ffdshow.

I'm really not that worried about the audio on the preview. My primary concerns are:

1. Config prog is super slow when you close windows.

2. Can't see any of my QAM channels on PVRX2. Analog channels play fine, video and audio look great. When I switch to one of the QAM channels I've mapped, it just stays on the analog channel.

I'm wondering something. I didn't specifically install dot net 2. Would that cause these issues?

Thanks,

This can be normal. When you hit the 'ok' button in the capture source it does a database cleanup. How long this takes depends on how many channels and days of listings you have, combined with the speed of your machine. For most people its only 10 seconds or so, but some US users with tons of channels and 14 days of listings have been driven nuts waiting for it to complete.

You shouldnt be in there hitting the OK button on a daily basis, so after setup is complete, you wont have to worry about it.

I'd check your analog capture sources to make sure you dont have the QAM channels enabled there. I'm guessing they're are.

Spot on, Sub! Thanks ever so much.

Now, another silly newb question. I can't get audio on the QAM channels on GBPVR. I get audio on all channels in WinTV, not in GBPVR.
I'm running the Hauppage 1600 card. Tried the Hauppuage decoders. I have RealTek audio, using the Optical connector on the M/B. Which works great for analog channels and on everything in WinTV.

Thanks,

You may need to install AC3Filter.
