What is a SqueezeCenter client? Does it (in your opinion) offers any solution for my situation?

Funny is that somehow all the solutions that are available do not match my needs. Allmost all the hardware appliances use their own HD or system. Interact with them and others is complex or is not possible.

I'm looking for an appliance of a piece of software (GBPVR) wich can record (digital) tv, use pictures and music from a central system (server or whatever) and let me connect my bedroom so I can watch live and recorded tv. Sounds easy but in practice there are a lot of hardware out there and I can not seem to find the good combination. Smile

In my opinion your best choice remains GBPVR. The only alternative with extender technology is SageTV and the SageTV hardware is not even as good as the EGreat M34A and it costs more. Mediaportal, MythTV and others prefer PC clients as you stated.

SqueezeCentre is the old SlimServer http://www.logitechsqueezebox.com/which is an audio only application that still is quite popular. I prefer the Music plugin for GBPVR. I find it ironic that the same people who complain about needing a server for GBPVR don't mind a server for just music, but nevertheless if I can make more people happy this way I will like the challenge.

I now have a few options:
 •
Central server with GBPVR with extender in the livingroom and extender in the bedroom
•
HTPC in de livingroom and a extender in the bedroom
If you have other options I'm interested to know.

What do you recommend as extender for GBPVR?

I have no problem in spending money but I like it to match my needs. I use iTunes on my Windows server and Airport express to stream it directly to my amplifier or other speakerset in my house. Works like a charm, easy to use from my iPhone and I do not have to turn on the TV to select music with a remote. The touch screen of the iPhone is a very easy way to manage my music.
