Trouble registering codec

I have a new laptop running Windows Home Premium Vista x64 and I am having trouble registering MPCvideodec.ax. I have UAC turned off, registered the codec and it said I did it successfully. However, it doesn't show up as registered using Gspot or studio or anything (yes I rebooted and everything.) It's a weakish laptop that would really benefit from DXVA if only it would register. Can someone help?

I blame Vista x64..I've never run it and this is what i does to me :mad:

My server is Vista 32 and it registers fine. I used the x64 version - the x86 (32 bit) version won't work at all.

Did you manage to sort this out? I had it registered fine under vista 64 but after my recent reinstall I had the same issue as you - it looked like it had done it fine but it didn't appear in Graphedit/graphstudio. I know you cant put them in the system32 directory or it has a right fit, but in a nice "all-filters-i-want-to-register" directory of my own I had no problems before my recent reinstal and even now I think it's only this one I have trouble with.

It's not working yet. I think I'll try another directory (one of my own creation) and give it full permissions or something.
