Just got my Hardware to make my HTPC and after googling a lot and reviewing all kind blogs and web pages, decided to choose GBPVR.
Installed XP Media Center SP3 and using HVR1600.
I have a copy of PowerDVD 8 and also plan to Install WMP 11 and CCCP.
So before installing gbpvr need someone to explain or help me understanding what is all the Buzz about video/audio decoding?
Am I covered with the above applications installed or Do I need more?

Depends a lot on your video hardware and CPU. Different codecs will/will not use hardware acceleration for one thing.

Unfortunately, there is no silver bullet combination of codecs that works reliably on everyones machine. Post your hardware specs, and those with similar setups can tell you what works for them.

Hey Thanks, I like how your signature looked and make my own version!Big Grin
I'm kind of confuse with all the codecs out there and which is the best that would do the job.
Thanks anyway.

My setup is similar to Teookie's. I use his codecs but use the ATI Mpeg Mux out of the ATI AVIVO package.

One place to look to see what people use is here:
