Installed MovieWiz, did the initial setup where I specified the dir to search, then did the import with the option enabled to just search the dirs I specified, and it works great.

Rip some new dvds, and in pvrx2 MovieWiz, go down to "import" option... and it says I have 200+ new items imported. Uhoh.... Check and it seems like it imported all the new recordings from gbvpr, not the 2 new DVDs.

Weird. So I go back into the config thing for moviewiz, clean up all the junk (tedious!) make sure the settings are right, re-do the scan THERE and it just finds the new DVDs. Cool. Thinking I must have gotten a setting wrong, I tried the import option again a few days later from pvrx2, and it did the exact same (incorrect) thing.

Grrr. Going back into the settings AGAIN I notice that the radio button selecting where to look for new material seems to revert to c:\, not the last option (my locations) - maybe this is why?

Anyway, it would be REALLY handy if the import option only checked in my locations, not wherever its checking now Wink

Did you have a chance to look into this? It would be really handy. Also, I don't know if titles delete from the database if they've been deleted on disk, but it would be nifty if the scan process (in the config, or the import one) would check existing entries and delete them if the content has been deleted.

Here is how this function works.
Code:
If EnableImportRecordings is set (Plugin Settings Tab)
If Default Lookup Locations set (Settings1 tab)
Allow Import (from Recordings) AND Dflt Locations
        Display Import Dialog
    else
        Allow Import (from Recordings) only
        Display Import Dialog
else
    Display Import Disabled dialog
Import from Recordings will attempt to load any newly recorded entries from the PVRX2 db.

Import from Default Locations will look in each default location, honoring the process subdir checkbox (Settings1 tab).

So, have you set default locations in the settings1 tab, if so, it will check each of those locations (with subdirs if specified) each time you click the import-default locations from within MovieWiz.

If you still think there is a problem, send me your settings and a log file (pvrx2.exe.log) of a run that causes the problem.

My problem is that the default locations seems to reset itself to the first radio button. I'll take a closer look and verify what I am seeing.

Ok, safe to report this was Pilot Error and is working fine. Sorry. Would be handy if the 'default locations' scan would *remove* items that no longer exist on disk.

You can "remove" entries that no longer exist by doing a Sync on the Manage Content tab. Some associated settings can be found on the Plugin Tab in the "Archive Locations" section.

Ok, I really must be blind.... I don't see a sync option anywhere on that tab.

Ah, right, your needs are a little different than what this was created for. The Sync option is used when the user either moves or transcodes and moves the file to a different directory. The program will scan alternate location(s) to see if the file was moved or transcoded, then either reset the db (if entry was found), or mark it hidden or offline.

If you have Archive Directories (at least 1) defined, the Sync button will appear. Also, it will only appear if you are running on the server (ie not a client).

But, it should still work for you.
  • Add a directory to the archive directory list (on Plugin Settings tab).
    • You could set it to c:\temp
    • Do not include subdirs
    • Mark missing as hidden
  • Run SyncArchived (Manage Content Tab)
  • Click the 'Show only hidden titles'
  • A 'Del Hidden' button should show up on the tab bar.
  • Click it, the hidden entries (ie ones not found or deleted) will be removed from the db.

Indeed, that worked perfectly, thanks!

I would never have guessed that procedure, but now that its set up that way its a snap.
