No sound playinig back recorded tv

i have a sound problem playing back some recorded tv, sound plays ok in high def surround sound but normal standard recordings get no sound, i have spdif out and have tried settings in fdd and have also tried ac3 to control depending on the setting it will play one but not the other but when i get it to play standard def and then try to play other videos i get a very heavy static noise? but when it is playing high def recordings everthing else is fine.
and there are no sound problems wathching live tv.
i have k-lite codec pack installed.
Can anyone help please?

Try starting a new thread in the support forum. Cross-posting this in an old/unrelated support thread and in the wishlist (new feature request) forum isn't going to get you anywhere.
