Arcsoft decoder black screen

Hi

When I try to play back the recordings from my HD PVR I sometimes just get a black screen and GBPVR freezes. I have to hit ctrl-alt-del and end the task to get out of it. Other times it will play back fine. My version of the Arcsoft decoder is 2.25.82.43 X86 (Apr 21 2008). I think that this version is old enough that it doesn't try to block 3rd party apps, right? I have GBPVR v1.3.11 and all the updates from the survival guide installed. My video renderer is set to EVR and all the codecs are set to Arcsoft.

I had this working fine before I reformatted my computer. Does anyone know what could cause this?

I have seen the arcsoft decoder give black screen for a couple of users when hardware acceleration was being used (due to issue with their videocard drivers), so maybe try the video renderers to see if it makes any difference.

Well, I got it fixed!!!

I was thinking about what what you said about hardware acceleration and I tried turning off DXVA2.0 and DXVA1.0 in the Arcsoft Video Decoder Properties. This seems to have fixed my problem. Changing this setting didn't seem to change the load on my cpu. It also did work fine with other video renderers before changing this setting but I didn't want to use them because they all have some problems. When using VMR9 fullscreen exclusive it leaves junk on the screen and VMR9 custom seems to make the video studder. The Overlay Manager doesn't allow me to click buttons while watching videos.
