With the help of Martin in another forum (networkedmediatank.com) I was able to install gbpvr on my pc and the pch-client on my A-110. Now that everything works Iam going to configure the details, where I would like to ask the following questions:

1. Is it possible to copy the files, that I currently have installed on my pc in the mvpmc-share onto the internal harddisk of the pch and start from there? Would this bring me to the point that I dont need the share on my pc. The gbpvr is still needed, I know.

2. Is it possible to automatically start gbpvr.cgi on startup of the pch?

3. Martin (alias emveepee) wrote in the other forum that there are 3 mvpmcx2's. 2 of them (mono and amp_test) are installed by the NMTInstall.exe, which I used. And there are two other releases with enhanced internal player and native hdmi-support. As I use hdmi I would be interested to know where to download and how to configure the beta release with the hdmi-support. Did I understand it right, that this would provide me with another, hopefully better, player for the pch? And how do these release have to be seen in comparison to gbpvr, which Martin says is more current?

4. I wasnt able to change the skin on the pch using the gui. I figured out, how to change it in the config.xml and now it is changed, but I wonder if this is a known issue?

As far as I know GBPVR doesn't provide file mgt internally, but certainly the NMT allows several transfer methods, ftp might be the fastest.

CSI provides a means of installing and running mvpmcx2 w/o a share and BrainStormer uploaded a post to do this too.

Not really.

It is in private beta now, with public beta coming.

Hopefully yes, at least for mpeg files.

I'm not sure what you think I said,

It worked for me the last time I tried.

Iam sorry, but I dont understand what you mean. Does "mgt" mean "management"? And what does "file management internally" has to do with the question, if I can copy the files to the pch and start from there? Maybe Iam missing some basic understandings of the pch, but I thought I could copy the files, that are currently in the mvpmc-share on my server to the pch, so that I can start them from there also after a power-off/power-on-cycle of the pch. What does this has to do with "transfer methods" and "internal file management"? Iam sorry if my questions sound inpolite or rough, but my english is not that good. So please dont understand me wrong.

What is CSI?
I found the thread you are referring to. And I will try the download from Brainstormer out.

So the fastest way to start gbpvr on the pch is to enter it as a webservice and start from there?

mvallevand Wrote:I'm not sure what you think I said,
You wrote "I don't consider the GBPVR my "home", mvpmcx2 is generic in fact there is an open source linux server too, it just isn't as current as GBPVR."
I asked "You say GBPVR is more current than mvpmcx2. But what Iam using?..."
You answered "There are 3 mvpmcx2's right now, NMTInstall installs the front end to the NMT players mono and amp_test. There is an updated release for component with enhanced internal player for analog out and there is a release in beta now for HDMI."
And thats the point where my last question comes in. I dont seem to understand the relation between gbpvr, mvpmcx2 and the "open source linux server" you are mentioning. Is there any place with some more detailed information on this and on gbpvr in general? Gbpvr is written by sub is what I foudn out till now. Is it freeware? Or open-source?

Currently Iam using a topfield TF5000PVR, which in combination with a so-called TAP (JAGs EPG) has the ability to update the epg data in configurable intervals, e.g. daily. After the epg data is refreshed it searches the epg data for keywords from a list that I maintain. For every movie or tv-show, whose description contains any of the keywords it automatically schedules a recording. THIS is really great and I would not want to miss that. So there are some questions for me:

1. Is there a way to do an automatic, scheduled (e.g. daily) update of the epg-data?
2. Is there a way to automatically create scheduled recordings according to a configurable list of keywords found in the epg data?
3. Is it possible to use wake-on-lan for the server from the pch? I think I found some threads on that, that say it is possible although not a standard configuration.
4. Can I have the gbpvr going to standy- or hibernate-mode when it is not used? I think it is possible with the standard system-plugin,right? But will this plugin send the server to sleep when there is no gbpvr-activity no matter if there may be other activity e.g. file-access from other applications?

Here I will try again the problem for me isn't the language it is trying to answer a post that is split between here and the NMT forums.

- GBPVR can be configured to read files from any share including the shared drives on the PCH. The PCH is not very configurable so you will need to tell the GBPVR Recording service to run as user NMT password 1234 instead of local system. Files should be automatically read directly.

- CSI is the Community Software Installer discussed and supported on the NMT forums. It probably provides the easiest hard disk installation for mvpmcx2

- I think that running as a web service is the best idea,

- mvpmcx2 and GPBVR run as a client/server application. I meant that GBPVR is the most up-to-date server and the older server do not support the full power of mvpmcx2

I will let others answer the GBPVR questions. CSI provides access to ether-wake but here is my compiled binary http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/ether-wake.zip it's up to you to figure out how to script it.
