This is a very strange problem I've run across from time to time, very sporadic and random. Every so often the recordings will just have a really bad picture and no audio. A reboot seems to fix this, at least for awhile, but I'd like to know (if possible) what's causing it, if it can be fixed once and for all. 2 Hauppauge PVR-150 cards, analog cable, Intel CPU, VIA chipset motherboard, XP32/SP3. This particular time, it seemed to happen with back-to-back recordings, I don't recall if that was the case the last time this happened. Logs and picture attached. I'm not sure if they'll help at all, but I'm not sure what else to try at this point.

does it go away if you disconnect the cable from the card momentarily? I once had a very similar problem (just with cable hooked to a tv, no computer involved) and disconnecting the cable for a second would clear the problem for a few days though it would always come back... it seemed like some sort of charge would build up somewhere, and disconnecting would clear it until it built up again.

if that's the case, a grounding block will fix it permanently..Smile
or just attach a wire from the cable shielding to a good ground somewhere..[easier said than done without a grounding block tho]
oh, and sometimes it's a battery backup...[the electrical disconnect it provides] use any cable outlets on there if available to filter/ground cable..
and check that all the outlets are properly grounded and surge protected..
[computer and cable box and tv and anything else that plugs into them]

one good ground place is the screw in the middle of an AC outlet...
it's made to connect to the little green wire that comes off a 2->3 wire adapter..Smile [US only]

The cable is grounded already, and the system is on a UPS/battery backup. I don't think this model UPS has the cable input/output on it, though.

And, I'm not sure if it goes away if I disconnect the cable from the card, I only seem to catch this AFTER it's recorded something "incorrectly".

I think I also forgot to mention I have the latest VIA chipset drivers, the latest Hauppauge drivers, and the latest Windows updates all installed as well.
