first and foremost, i would like to thank all those who helped me setup my GBPVR especially MTP and chris for the bat file..... thats many of you guys with the info you post on this board, you helped and didn't even know it.

my setup>>>

AMD 9800 w/ASUS m3a78-e
HD-PVR 1212
MCE ir receiver
Logitech 880
DirecTV H-20 receiver
W7 os

my biggest hurddle was to get the MCE ir to blast the channels correctly... i could get the HD-PVR to record, but often times it was the wrong channel.

here's what MTP helped me with..... he was able to determine that the drivers provided with microsoft were mainly the problem. i attached a file that saved me..... from that file you have to pick the one that best suits your situation (CPU/64bit/x86)

now the tricky thing is that in W7 it requires that all drivers have to be digitally signed.... the work around is as follows, reboot the computer, press F8 while it is rebooting, there will be a screen that pops up with some options, select the option that allows you to install drivers that are NOT digitally signed. your computer will boot up as usual, then you can install the new MCE ir driver. once that is installed, setup the blaster as usual and it should work....

only problem i have is the following message though>>>

Quote:AutoIt Error

Line 0 (File ...\mceblast.exe):

runwait(MceIrPlay.exe -i " & $digits[3] ,"", @SW_hide)
runwati(MceIrPlay.exe -i " & ^ERROR

Error: Array variable has incorrect number of subscripts or subscript dimension range exceeded.

even though i get this message, my channel changes perfectly.

Again, i would like to thank everyone for the info on this board...... no more TIVO!!!!

oh, that's my script...it's just complaining that there weren't 3 digits total...
set in config for blaster to use 3-digit padding...then it should be ok..

i use HIP so haven't used that one in a while..i think the files it creates will work with the included MCE blasting setup built-into gbpvr...Smile
but the drawback was you had to run the rec service under a certain account for it to work..
[i think just check 'interact with desktop' on service]

i also wrote a hip blaster alternative tht uses tcp so account problems go away..and it's faster..Smile but the one you're using is just raw codes so should be as fast as it gets pretty much...

let me know if the padding doesn't work and i'll see if i can't figure out what it is complaining about and rewrite it...[it's extremely simple code]

the DTV H2o...Smile cute name... [just don't add water! lol]

try this one, i added ability to use 4 digits if need be, and no errors, only blasts as many digits as you give it...even 1 or 2 only now..Smile
i threw that old one together just for fun till i figured out hip....have learned lots about coding with autoit since then...
would you like a configurable delay added? i usually just use it full speed, who wants to wait? Big Grin

oh btw, there's a second param you can use or not, delay...
so mceblast 123 100 would blast ch#123 with a delay of 100ms between digits..
but mceblast 123 still works if delay not specified..

Hello, this is my first post to this forum and I am new to HTPC topics.

I have a directv HR22, hauppauge pvr1212 and its all setup and working because I have the arcsoft total media software that comes with the pvr able to record directv programs.
So now I'm looking to take the next step to build an HTPC.
I am open to using ubuntu (mythtv?) or windows (mediaportal?)
My primary goals are to schedule recordings from a guide, change directv channels and watch recordings.

Unfortunately most posts I've read are not helping me at this point because I lack the basic knowledge.
Can anyone point me at a good place to get started on this?

My pvr1212 is connected to pc with usb cable so and media portal does not see it like it would a pci card. So seems that's my first hurdle.
The pc I am currently messing around with has windows vista sp2.

Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

pBs, tweener, would you still have the "MCE Replacement Driver" for Vista / Win7 ?
I looked everywhere for hours (on this site, mediaportal forum, etc..) to no avail.
Thank you very much in advance.
