I have my videos stored on a Windows Home Server Share \\WHSERVER\Videos
with sub-directories like \\WHSERVER\Videos\Lightroom, in the Directories tab of GBPVR config I have browsed to the network location and selected \\WHSERVER\Videos and given it an alias of WHSVIDEOS.
I can select and play the videos in all the directories when I use the PCH Media Sources, Network Browser. When I start mvpmcx2 from the Web Services and select the Video Library in GBPVR I can see the alias WHSVIDEOS but when I select it nothing happens ie it does not drill down to the sub-directory.
The GBPVR Client on the server works fine and finds all the directories.
As a test I put the same video on the GBPVR server local disk and this works using mvpmxc2 on the PCH.
Where I am lost is if it is a networking problem why does the PCH have no problems using the Network Browser to find the directories and play the videos?
I have the Guest account on both the GBPVR server and the WHS Server.
Any ideas would be most welcome.

You have a couple of options. If WHS provides true guest access you can change \\WHSERVER\Videos to \\##.##.##.##\Videos notation in config.xml.

Alternatively you can change the GBPVR Recording Service account privileges as discussed here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=42871

Hi Reyn,

I ran into this problem also just a few days ago after taking the plunge into all things NMT.
My shares are on an old Maxtor NAS and are being served by GBPVR running on WinXP.
I cheated a little and just disabled the Video Library plugin and installed the Movie Wiz plugin.
Much prettier IMO. Just takes a little time to set it up ;-)

Martin

I tried the first option and entered the IP address of the WHS in config.xml in place of WHSERVER but that didn't work so I tried the second option and that now allows me to transverse the directories in Video Library.
This has led to another problem where the two videos in my test directory won't play. The mpg file goes to a black screen and then waits for about three minutes (file is 17 mins long) then returns to the Video Library, the mov file goes to Popcorn Hour Buffering sits there for approx three minutes, says "could not play" and returns to the Video Library.
Again both files play through the PCH Network Browser and also on the GBPVR Server. Attached logs don't know if they will help or not?

It looks like it is a permissions problem on those files.

Thanks for that Martin, network permissions are not my forte, I normally end up giving every permission to everything and still not knowing what does or does not work.
I think I will go and watch the Cricket and come back to this afresh.
