Jaggy Wrote:Your system is not working right as I can do all the things you say you can't on mine. The wiki is fairly well up to date actually but I don't think it will help you unless you decide to start from scratch. Thanks Jaggy. Your info seems to indicate what I had suspected, that the key functions of the remote were not working correctly. Yes, when I last reinstalled 1.3.11 (after installing a hard drive in my NMT and discovering that I could no longer gain access to GBPVR using the older Wiki info), I was guided to the automated installer and dummies guide post on the forum (which at that time was not a part of the WIKI). I discover tonight that the WIKI has indeed been updated for this new info. I'm not sure when this happened as the last time I looked it was still the older manual config process (which works for me only when the hard drive is not installed in the NMT...which is still a mystery). I certainly have never intended to sound as if I were bitching. I was only attempting to resolve if I actually did have a problem with the setup. Apparently this question mixed with a simple idea has unwittingly "pushed some buttons" with an important individual.

If you can't diagnose it yourself, then I still need to see your logs.

Probably modifications to keymapping XMLs in the directory Devnz\GBPVR\KeyMappings are needed? Or perhaps I misunderstand the relationship between the NMT remote and these mappings?
GBPVR 1.3.11 PCH A110 with latest firmware (at least as of last week). plugins UBUstream and UBUplayer. running CommunitySkin3 (apparently way out of date, though it seems like yesterday when it was new)

As I was suspecting you didn't change the entry in config.xml for your MAC address to to PCH2 mode The setting should look look this when you are finished <MVPClientType>PCH2</MVPClientType> Once you change it you need to restart the GBPVR Recording service.
Once this is done, you navigate with GBPVR style navigation ie to move forward 20 minutes you hit 20 then the Next key on the remote to go back 5 minutes you enter 5 Prev. The defaults for entering Prev and Next by themselves I think is 60 seconds some people change that to 30 or their preference in config.xml To get a timeline and other OSD info. hit the blue or info key Other keys are here http://www.mvpmc.org/~mvallevand/nmtkeys.html Keymapping.html will just move those functions around, they won't give you back to NMT player, I posted how to load it earlier. Found it. Modified it. Works as advertised on the nmtkeys.html and here.
Question: Did the NMTinstall program miss this? I certainly don't see the manual modification step in the dummies guide or in the WIKI.

NMTInstall doesn't modify this setting but it would make a duplicate section, for the programming effort involved vs the number of users I decided not to do this. It will work fine for new users. However the update instructions have said for several months to modify this setting http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...ostcount=1. Perhaps one problem is you use the wrong forum for posting and miss the stickies.

Wow, news to me that the MVP&NMT folder isn't the place to post items like this. You would at least think the WIKI would have a link to the most recent updates.
Next thing you know, I'll have to look at places like mvpmc.org and networkedmediatank.org to find all the information that should be located in one place. Is there really any wonder why more people aren't lining up to install GBPVR and integrate PCH to it? <OK, NOW I'm Bitching, so my apologies in advance>

The definition of a wiki is "A collaborative website which can be directly edited by anyone with access to it." Feel free to participate rather than leeching and complaining.
Incidently here's where Jaggy told you about the forum http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=12 BTW You're welcome Martin

It is much better to politely point out omissions rather than to bitch about them, the wiki is a user updated reference place & you could actually update it yourself like I have just finished doing adding a link to the correct forum for posting support questions for the NMT & mvpmcx2. For your future information it is this forum linked here http://forums.gbpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39 |
