There is no problem with other firewalls I just wanted to confirm that NMTInstall had no control over this

The current problem is that you actually did select 1080 not 720 mode for the device that is connecting. It will work at full res (slowly) with configuration, but I recommend going down 1280 720 which is still more than 10% higher than the NMT software uses.
Edit config.xml to 1280 720 and restart the recording service.

Thanks. That fixed it. Everything appears to be working now. You have been a great help. One more question, will this same setup work with a vista 64 machine or will I encounter more issues? I tried using the NMTInstall app on the vista box but kept getting install errors on .ax / .asx files.

It depends, the problems happen when you deviate from what I can predicate and guarantee in NMTInstall. You happened to have the most common problem with the name, which I caution against in the dummies guide and you also had the top two problems in the survival guide Part H. Now that you know about these I don't expect you to have any problem.

For the ax file problem, in NMTInstall did you follow the instructions here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=43367 and install the new VC runtime?
