My GeForce 7300LE just can't seem to smoothly playback 1080i USA clear QAM HD content in Windows XP. I've tried every mix of decoders/mux/renderer/drivers/settings possible.

Can anyone using **Windows XP** with US HD ATSC/QAM recordings give me a recommendation on a video card to give smooth DXVA playback of content?

Thanks!!!

i'd go with a ati HD4650 or better....sweet smooth pans and effortless bluray..plus hdmi 7 ch sound..[and really pretty cheap..Smile]

or if you want nvidia get a 9400 or better...
in my experience the ati worked better in xp than nvidia..[more codecs, acceleration available]

Thanks pBS.

Related question for you. Do you find the HTPC Blu-Ray experience to be solid? Do you play them back in GB-PVR, or use an external app like PowerDVD? Is it as reliable as a standalone Blu-ray player? I'm trying to decide which route to go...would prefer HTPC but it's got to pass the wife test...

can't play blu-ray discs from pvrx2....so i usually rip them to a single file and play those thru pvrx2... [using anydvdhd]

but cyberlink powerdvd plays them fine from disk with menus and all...very reliable for me...
it's probably best player for bdroms...
you can create a custom menu entry to load it and if you setup remote to control it, will seem like playing from gbpvr...Smile
oh and i use ver 7.3 but the latest works well also...[ i think v9?]

i use the cyberlink navigator to play dvds natively in gbpvr also...pretty solid...
