My HTPC is not connected to the net and there is no EPG for TV. I won't watch TV through the HTPC cos the quality isn't as good so all I want to do is record from the S-Video input on X date at Y time ... just like a VCR scheduled recording.

Is there any plug in for GBPVR or even a stand alone program that'll do that?

You can do that, but without the benefits of an EPG and not watching the recording in GB-PVR - I dont really see the point of using GB-PVR. You might as well just use the simpler software that came with your capture card.

That software is nasty - crap quality too. Using GBPVR as a media centre is nice too Smile

Which tuner card do you have?
I have analog cable, Clear QAM cable, local OTA, distant OTA, OTA converter boxes (local and distant): obviously no EPG will ever work for me.
I use a number of recording options but they are brand and model specific.

That all depends what the card is. For example, the HD Homerun for example doesn't come with any real software. As another example, the software that comes with the Dvico Fusion cards is pretty crappy (it likes to crash and not record shows). It also uses more CPU than necessary because it can't just record to disk. It insists to process the video and audio and decode both.

PVR150

Having a read of the For The Record site now ... that might be handy ...

The simplest recording program for the 150 is WinTvCap, a command line recorder that runs as a "Job" from Window's Scheduler.

GB-PVR is the next most reliable for that card.

RE: WinTvCap - The initial setup may take a bit (the card has a tuner and 2 line inputs, 4 if you differentiate S-Video and Composite) but once a working "Job" is created, set it to not erase after completion and you can reuse and reschedule that "Job" indefinitely or create copies for different shows and times. Hauppauge scheduler places a similar "Job" into the scheduler that you can copy and examine to get an idea of the structure of the command needed.

Or, you could try wintvcap-gui which adds a GUI to wintvcap, or GBrecord (written by Sub). Info here: http://wintvcap-gui.sourceforge.net/

I tried this a few years ago, and I think it worked pretty well. The author is continuing to develop it which is a good sign.
