I'm thinking it's time I wipe the drive on my HTPC. I can't even remember what I've got going on it right now. I want to wipe it all, and do a fresh install of GBPVR (not that I think that has issues) but of course, I want my databases to be there when I bring it back.

I'm guessing export the recordings, and then import them later.

What are some things I should take note of before I wipe the drive? I'm guessing codecs, tho that's one of the things I want to wipe clean.

What are your experiences?

you can also back up the entire gbpvr dir, and after re-install, install same version, then stop service and copy backup over on top of fresh install...
as long as you keep same dir for install, and same rec. and livetv dirs, etc. everything will be back in place...
Smile
but if you want to actually clean out gbpvr, then yea, just keep the recording-dump.xml and the db too, just in case..
but be sure to create a new dump from config, as it doesn't run till epg update normally...[so any today won't be in it yet]

What procedure should I follow for install?

Wondering what codecs I should get, instead of loading a bunch, just the necessary.
MPEG2, Xvid/Divx, MP4... standard DVD and mpg.

Also my bro may be sending me an ATI card. So anything needed for that. (http://ati.amd.com/products/tvwonder650/pcie/index.html)

My previous process was just install stuff till it works. I don't like that.
