I am using 1.4.7 gbpvr, and vista 32.

I have done everything that it said in the instructions to load my movie file using the plug in. I have followed all the directions.

loaded up all the files etc,
However, there is not sync button on the config. is it automated?

when i boot up gbpvr, and load Movie Wizard, it has 0 files associated with it.

what am i doing wrong?

please help.

can you
- run config and manage the moviewiz plugin
- exit
- run pvrx2 and select moviewiz plugin
- exit

zip and post your logs.

I don't have Vista, and I understand there are some issues with where it locates files (like the moviewiz db). But your log files should give some indication as to what is going on.

Ok from the config program:
Code:
2009-10-05 20:39:32.766 VERBOSE [1] MovieWiz:           GetMovieEntriesArrayList()- Sorted by: TITLE**ELAPSED: 00:00:00.5930000  315 entries returned.
from GetMovieEntriesArrayList() - 315 entries located and sorted in ~ .6 seconds. Good so far...

Now in pvrx2, when the plugin starts we see this:

Code:
2009-10-05 20:42:15.718 VERBOSE [4] MovieWiz:           BuildCategoriesList()-   END   elapsed: 00m:00s:22ms  1 entries.
2009-10-05 20:42:15.719 VERBOSE [4] MovieWiz:           GetVideoList()-          BEGIN - CatID:-1
2009-10-05 20:42:15.724 VERBOSE [4] MovieWiz:           GetMovieEntriesArrayList()- Sorted by: TITLE**ELAPSED: 00:00:00.0030000  0 entries returned.
2009-10-05 20:42:15.724 VERBOSE [4] MovieWiz:           GetVideoList()-          END   elapsed: 00m:00s:05ms  0 entries.
This time from GetMovieEntriesArrayList() - no movies are found???

One thing that looks odd, is that it looks like you only have 1 category defined, yet from the config program, I see for the movie you updated, it has been assigned to 2 categories.

I think there is something funny about your database. Any chance you could zip and eMail me your MovieWiz.db3. I'll see if I can't recreate the problem here.

Ok, I took a look at the db, and all looks ok. I loaded it up in MovieWizManager, as well as PVRX2, all worked as expected.

I think the problem may be VISTA security related somehow. When you run config, the program can hit your \\HP-VISTA-SERVER, but when running PVRX2, it seems it can't read the db (hence zero entries returned for both categories and movies in pvrx2).

I don't have vista, so I am not able to re-create, but I vaguely remember running across this awhile ago with some other users. The root cause was Vista 'shadow copy' of the database.

Take a look at this thread, I think it may solve your problem.

Deleting the "shadow" file solved the problem. however, for every file I have in the original folder, there is the same name with the extension of .xml in there now.

is this normal?

if it is, this would be very annoying.

thanks again for your help.

Two possible reasons for the .xml files in original movie locations:

  1. You ran MovieWizManager, clicked on the Manage Content tab, then clicked on the "Export All" button. This will create a .xml file for each movie with the metadata (for which the Video Plugin will use to display movie information).
  2. You ran WizMetadataGrabber and had the Save metadata format set to either "Seperate metadata .xml" or "Save in both formats", and ran it against that directory.
Take a look at the .xml files to see if they are in fact metadata information for the movies. If so, you can safely delete.
