Reddwarf can play the file in WMP but not in GBPVR Recordings. Can the decoder that you have specified on the Playback tab of Config play mkv and avi files?

Well, AVI and MKV are just containers, not actual encoded formats, so the answer depends on what is inside them. I thought I saw sub post that for MKV and AVI he just hands them off to Windows and it does what it would normally do. After your post, I was less sure about whether there was some difference between the way they are handled in Recordings vs. Video Library.

When a file is selected from Recordings, GBPVR uses the decoders specified on the Playback tab of Config and does not try any other decoder.

When a file is selected from the Video Library, GBPVR uses the same mechanism as WMP to play the file and allows "WMP" to select the decoder.

This can result in a situation will GBPVR is unable to play a file in Recordings but can play the file in Video Library or vice versa.
That is incorrect. It wont make any difference if you play the files from the Video Library or Recordings screen - you'll get the same result.

What I said is that the decoders selected on the playback tab of the config app are only used when you play a file type that GB-PVR records (ie, .ts/.mpg/.dvr-ms files). If you play other file types (ie, .avi/.mkv/etc), then it leaves it up to Windows to decide on the decoders to use. It doesnt matter where in the app you try to play the file from.

Reddwarf, when I'm back in NZ I'll get you to supply a sample .ts file and I'll see why it doesnt play.

What it SHOULD do is ofcource interesting, but more important is what it actually does Big Grin

Now I wish for a command-line utility that can fix the file like TSDoctor does...

Bugger. Apologies.

I did search for, and could not find, Sub's earlier posts. I must try to remember that my memory is not as good as I remember it used to be.

The somewhat buggy .ts file can still be found here http://www.megaupload.com/?e=CZYIH4SNU2L29C

but if you require a bug-free and correct file I can make a new one.

Edit: I'll be in London the whole next week and may not be able to respond to the forum.

I looked at the sample in the first post and it suffers from this problem, no ts 0x47 byte at the beginning of the file so PVRx2 won't play it.

http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=3...stcount=16

I can play it on the PCH but the GBPVR timeline is not correct.
