Hi Sub,

I have noticed a problem with GB where the same show is recorded twice if the scheduled start time is changed after the initial request has been entered. This happens when a daily or weekly recording is programmed and the scheduled start time is later changed (usually delayed by 1 or 2 minutes).

GB seems to interpret this as a new recording request and assigns another tuner to the same show. The recording is duplicated even though they are on the same channel in the same general time slot.

This results in a tuner being tied up needlessly. In some cases this causes a conflict with another program and results in a lost recording. I am using version 1.47, but I have noticed this with previous versions. It just seems to be happening more frequently now in my area.

Is there any way to prevent this?

Assuming these are season recordings, and have the 'complete epg reload' option enabled (it is by default), then this shouldnt occur. Set this way, it'll delete all season recordings as part of the EPG update procedure, and reschedule them. This means the season recording episode with the old time would have been deleted, and rescheduled with the new time.

The only exception is the very first episode used to create the season recording is never deleted, but all subsequent ones should be fine.

I've had this happen when I had EPG problems or a source with no EPG. The EPG wasn't getting emptied.
Have a search in GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log for something like the below which may be a pointer to the problem - or not.

Quote:2009-10-14 08:04:30.937 VERBOSE [12] Skipping EmptyEPG, since not all EPG updates were successful...

If you see it, then you can have a look around in the log for a reason.

Thanks sub and martint123,

I am using Schedules Direct and my system is set for a complete EPG reload.

I did find the "Skipping EmptyEPG" message in one of the old logs. But, I can't correlate it with the problem shows since I already manually deleted the extra pending recordings. I will keep looking at this and try to relate it when it happens again. Could this be a SD issue?
