no video with digital channels during mapping

The preview window when I'm mapping digital to EPG has audio but no video. What log files or info can I provide to help with debug? It behaves the same after mapping a channel and trying to watch in Live TV; it also doesn't show the blue background/white text info bar at the bottom.

It sounds like you probably don't have an appropriate hd-capable MPEG-2 decoder installed and selected. You specify Vista, but don't specify which version (Home Premium and Ultimate have a decoder that I think works, Business doesn't).

or as you have an ATI card you can try the AVIVO decoder here: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_cataly...on-vista32 (it's part of the AVIVO converter package)

If that's not it, after attempting mapping and livetv post at least your config and pvrx2 logs, and the -native versions of the same (but it never hurts to just post them all).

edit: oh, I see from SAF thread that you have that installed already... won't hurt to try the decoders I mentioned, but you should probably just post logs.

I am using SAF beta 19. I switched the MPEG-2 Playback to ffdshow and now audio and video are in the preview window. However, when I watch Live TV, I get audio but no video.

Tried ATI AVIVO, changed MPEG-2 Playback to ATI MPEG Video Decoder, audio but no video. Tried MPC, changed MPEG-2 Playback to Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder, audio but no video.

I uninstalled SAF beta 19 and installed Vista Codec Pack v5.47 (I was previously using an older version of this codec pack). I changed MPEG-2 Playback to Microsoft MPEG-2 and most of the digital channels show audio and video in the preview window during mapping. Those that don't show video in preview show it in Live TV. Weird.

I am wondering about switching video codecs in config app. Do I have to hit OK and exit out of config for changes to be committed, or can I change codecs and switch tabs to Capture Sources to see if the changes made a difference?

The preview window in Config will not use the prefered codecs settings. It just builds the graph using the filters with the highest merits. PVRx2 will force the decoders that you have set as prefered.

You should use Cyberlink PDVD MPEG-2 decoder (unlocked SAF) for MPEG-2, not FFDSHow. Maybe that is the problem.
