Trouble switching to encrypted channels

Let me start by saying what a wonderful piece GBPVR actually is!

Ater using GBPVR for almost a year flawlessly using an analogue tuner card, I now moved to DVB-T. And it has some challenges...

My current setup:
-Win XP( SP3), GBPVR 1.4.7, WinTV7
-Intel D945GCLF2 board (Atom 330)
-WinTV-NOVA-TD-500 (84109), of which I currently use 1 tuner.
-WinTV-CI module, Smit Conax CAM, KPN Digitenne Service (Netherlands).
-PopcornHour A-110 (although not relevant at this stage)

After doing some reading on this forum, I placed the CI dll in the GBPVR directory, and installed all channels (encrypted and non-encrypted), enabling the CI/CAM checkbox.
I do not use LiveTV mode, but Timeshift instead (since this is what my PopcornHour will do also eventually, and I need this).

Now to practice:
Watching in LiveTV mode works excellent, also on the encrypted channels.
Since I will be using my PCH and it gave me trouble watching the encrypted channels I tried following: since the PCH effectively uses Timeshift mode I also configured this in GBPVR. And it had similar impact on the attached monitor: FTA channels playing fine, however encrypted channels don't.

More detail:
The KPN Digitenne service I use has a couple of FTA channels and they work fine, also in timeshift mode.

However, this is what happens when trying to watch encrypted channels in Timeshift mode (and also recordings, but my guess is that it is effectively the same):

- From main screen, I select 'Live TV'.
- I can freely watch (of course...) the FTA channels and switch between them.
- I can switch to an encrypted channel, and it plays fine.
- I try to switch to another encrypted channel, the OSD tells me it is switching to the new channel and now picture freezes: no sound, and screen is frozen on previous encrypted channel.
- I can switch back to either the previous encrypted channel and it again plays fine (or an FTA channel and it also plays fine).
- I can leave the frozen picture, switch back to the main menu, again select LiveTV, and then the previously selected (encrypted) channel will play.

Looking at the LiveTV directory, on channel switching I see a new .ts file being created, and it grows. Using TSDoctor I see that this file is not decrypted: an encrypted file is recorded, which cannot be played back (in timeshift mode).

So the WinTV CI somehow seems to lock on to the first selected channel and stays there.

I have put some effort in this, but need to admit that I actually don't have the knowledge or insight to solve this.

But maybe someone else does?
I'd be happy to post some logs if they can be of any help, but at this stage have no clue what could be useful.

Kind regards,
Niels

I dont know if I'd be able tell you what is happening, but try adding HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Devnz\LogPSIProcessing=2 (DWORD) registry setting, and create c:\temp directory. Next, restart the recording service, then start live tv on an encrypted channel, confirm it is decrypted, then (after about 10 or so seconds) change to a second encrypted channel. Then zip and attach the c:\temp\psi.log file, and a zip of the GB-PVR logs directory.

Thanks for your quick reply sub,

Attached you'll find the logs you requested.
Some comments with these:
- I started watching TV using timeshift mode at around 23:05:01 (Channel = SBS6)
- I switched channels at around 23:05:21 (Channel = RTL4)
- Stopped watching at around 23:05:30

Hope this helps, and appreciate your efforts in forward,

kind regards,
Niels

Can you see if using the DVR-MS mux instead of the "TS Mux" makes any difference?

Behaviour is more or less the same:

- Starting liveTV (timeshifted) works on first channel
- Switching to a different channel freezes the screen
- difference with TS mux is that it cannot switch to an FTA channel either

However, I see a new file being created when switching in the LiveTV directory (couple of 100k) but it doesn't play.

Again, I have attached the logs.
- Started watching Live TV at 16:50:30 (Channel = SBS 6)
- Switched channels at around 16:50:50 (Channel = RTL4)
- This actually shows in the psi.log (@ 16:50:57)

Kind regards,
Niels

I have installed the cyberlink mux (5.1.0.2507) and this does the job.
No .ts, but .mpg (slower channel switching?) but at least it switches encrypted channels now.

With live preview enabled, does it work correctly?

Yes, the cyberlink mux also works in LiveTV mode.

Note: I was testing with Timeshift mode beacuse I am using a PCH as frontend. It effectively uses timeshift mode and the Cyberlink mux does not give me trouble switching trough the encrypted channels now.

Happy again Smile
