Yeah, they still support playing DVDs from folders but they dropped the option to play Blu-rays from folders. Some of the older builds of version 8 could do it but I don't think it ever worked with version 9.

Unfortunately the PCH doesn't support playing from BD.iso backup files. I think I could trick it to read the BMDV folder but the only rule I can think of would be to play the largest m2ts file which doesn't take into consideration seamless branching, from what I've heard.

I use Whurlston's Movie plugin for playing both Blur-ray .iso's and folder rips (and of course actual disks). Works very nicely, except those that insist on playing in German/French...! For them I end up fannying around with Graphstudio and switching the audio stream in the MPC splitter. Not so remote/wife friendly!

I've put the request in for the next GBPVR build to allow me to fix this. Not sure if sub will get to it with all the other requests but I'm sure he'll try.

On a related note, albain got TrueHD and DTS-HD/MA bitstream working for ffdshow. There are still a couple of bugs to work out, but it works.

Thanks for all the inputs.

I've been dinking with this some more and am learning more about BR's, etc. AnyDVD seems like the way to go but it's kinda pricey. DVDFab would be OK but it doesn't handle BD+ yet...I believe it's in the next release, according to their forum.

How do you play an iso file? The PDVD version that I have doesn't seem to be able to, at least I haven't figured out how.

Where can I find Whurlston's movie plugin? I looked at the wiki but didn't see it it the movie plugins.

What I'm really after is to play back on the PCH. At this point it looks like ripping to disk and then picking out the main movie m2ts file is the best approach. There's still some issues with audio, tho.

Use Slysoft's Virtual Clone Drive (free) or Daemon Tools (Lite version is free) to mount the image first.

The plugin can play directly from disc as well but you need AnyDVD HD to remove the protection first. For discs with multiple m2ts files for the main movie, I recommend ripping with Clown_BD first to merge them.

The plugin should work with the PCH.
