New Install on 7: Error when trying to stream

I always use VLC, in fact, I haven't tried WMP that I can ever recall.

Ok...try the following.....

The 3 key components are

• Video Bitrate (higher is better but takes more bandwidth and CPU on the host)
  
• Video Size - Preset vs. Scale....preset is convenient but scale can provide you higher bitrate throughput leading to better quality....if you have a good recording and a high bitrate you can always use the VLC client to expand the viewing size to what you want it to be with little impact to picture quality.
  
• Preset vs. Manual Transcode.....preset is convenient but going Manual and selecting H264 as the codec and the encoder you can get much better results.
  

Hints...start the scale small at .25 (25 percent original picture size) with a higher bitrate...i.e. 2k-hd. Then work your way up trying different combinations until you find one that your host system can support the transcode and your client can handle the stream.
