Hi, I'm posting a new thread so as to not mix my issue with others that might be different. At first I was getting no recorded files at all, but now after a change to the config file that Sub suggested, I am getting the file, but it never grows larger than 0 bytes. I'm attaching the logs to see if anyone can give me a clue as to what is going on. The latest recording to fail was Heroes at shortly after 8PM tonight.

Any light you can shed would be helpful.

Thanks,
Kevin

There is no sign of any error in the logs. The recording looks like it happened fine.

Its very strange for analog device to end up with a 0 byte recording. Nearly every single post in the past that has reported is a zero byte, has been from a digital device, since there is lots of reasons a digital device can have this happen. All I can guess is that something about your machine and the PVR350 driver's are disagreeing with each other and the device isnt producing data. Sorry, I'm not really sure what to suggest to fix it.

OK, so I reinstalled the drivers for my PVR-350, still getting 0 byte recordings. So I moved my tuners around in Config so that the 350 would be my default tuner for live TV. I just tried to watch a program, and sure enough, nothing. I do however see a few "fail" error messages now in the logs. If you would be so kind to take a look to see if anyting jumps out at you. My 350 was working perfectly until I installed a new driver for my HVR-1600. Now I have the 1600 working again, but my 350 won't play nice in the sand box!

Thanks,
Kevin

P.S. the log is pretty short. If you just search for "fail" you'll see the errors easily enough.

Unfortunately there is nothing critical in those fail messages.

Well, just thought that I would post back for the benefit of anyone else who may fall into this trap. As I mentioned, my problems all started when I installed a new version of WinTV 7 that also happened to deliver updated drivers for my HVR-1600. Suddenly I started getting zero byte recordings on my 1600. After Sub suggested that I try changing an "out of process" setting in the config, I was finally able to record on the 1600, but then I noticed that my PVR-350 was also producing 0 byte recordings.

Well, after numerous hours of head pounding and trial and error changes (new drivers, re-installing WinTV 6, removing and re-adding the cards in GBPVR, etc.), I finally reached success. The answer was to completely uninstall all versions of WinTV. That's it. The new drivers were fine, everything else remains as it was, and suddenly my recordings are working again. I should note that WinTV 7 only support digital cards (even though it does support the analog portion of those digital cards). That's what had prompted me to put WinTV 6 back on just to test the 350 and find that it was working just fine outside of GBPVR.

I'm not sure what the conflict was, as WinTV was not running while I was trying to record in GBPVR, and I had earlier versions of the software installed for years without a problem. Anyway, you have been warned. I hope this saves someone else hours of headache!!

Good luck!

Ah, I know why that is.

The PVR-350 and PVR-250 a quite old now, and the drivers had one specific quirk that other newer devices dont have. All other devices allow multiple instances of connected graphs, and only allow one of those instances to run at a time. The PVR250/350 do not allow this. The only allow a single connected graph system wide. When WinTV7 runs, it holds a connected graph in the background, so GB-PVR is not able to construct one when it needs one.
