yea, ffdshow and ac3 filter can adjust...it's just the adjustment for one also affects the other..
so i make it so ffdshow does mp2 audio, and ac3 filter do only ac3...then you can set the volumes independently...
[ffdshow look at volume and mixer tabs, ac3 set DRC [dynamic range compression] to highest and adjust master gain for volume..
problem is, all the tv stations aren't on same page so some mp2 audio is way higher than others, not much you can do about it.. same if not worse with ac3...
also have to realize that usually ac3 is 5.1 ch.and mp2 audio is only 2 channel..
so if you downmix ot 2 ch. then have to compensate differently..
and almost every channel i get has a choice of mpeg2 or ac3 audio subchannels...
[atsc] so choices there can make it manageable.
even on my tv alone i notice wide variances in volume, so it's not just on computers..
