Checked ffdshow DXVA Video Decoder (3233) with windows 7:
It will not connect to VMR9 and I get black screen with EVR under GBPVR although being connected (checked with graphedit). This does not look as (a bit) underpowered. Obviously in HD2400 not all DXVA features are supported or the firmware is buggy.

With the MS decoder and EVR I am clearly able to squeeze most out of it, although with only the basic BOB deinterlacing. For anything more I will obviously need to upgrade.

on the page with dxvachecker, there's reference to a web page with tweaking info, most of which is applicable specifically to the 2400 to enable advanced features not normally enable be default..they make all the difference on that card, at least with older drivers, they may have enabled them now..
like several of the video accel modes are disabled by the driver, and the 'video acceleration settings' when you right click, [seems to be broken on my latest version tho] lets you tweak all the settings for the card, hidden stuff that makes a difference..
hmm, ver 2.0.2.1 works..

if you can't get a menu upon right click, then i can set you up with previous version as they don't have them on site..
[maybe just a xp issue tho]

I see info on that page about the 2400 but no tweaker download link (unless it is in Japanese) is there another link?

edit:
Aha - hitting back gets you there:

In Catalyst 10.2 everything that works seems to be enabled under Win 7. I was able to force motion adaptive and vector adaptive deinterlacing modes, which are disabled by default, but they work worse than BOB.

Hi.
I think SAF have solution for you (link below).

Just enable crop if FFDShow after SAf install in MPEG-2 profile (it is predefined), if you do not known how, i will guide you.
I am using it as well (i completely disable overscan inside GB-PVR) and handle it by myself.

Thanks. I have done it already:

The discussion about HD2400 went on more due to my curiosity, I believe.

the normal software one..and the new dxva separate one...
the dxva one doesn't have all the filters like normal ffdshow..[no crop, etc]

Sorry to be a pain over this, but are you sure you're getting H264 acceleration with VMR9 and Windows 7?

I've just spent a few hours messing about with a test Windows 7 install and I just can't get it working. SD stuff (mpeg2) seems ok with DXVA working fine with the nVidia decoder. I have the Cyberlink H264 decoder and it will only run in software mode (with really high CPU usage). If I switch to EVR, then DXVA kicks in for it.

I couldn't get the ffdshow DXVA decoder to work at all, in either mode though. (Couldn't get it working in XP either tbh). But I'll ask again, can it really do DXVA decoding of HD content with VMR9 in 7?

What worries me is that I've read a few articles on the web suggesting that Vista/7 will only do DXVA2 and that needs EVR, however they can do a translation back to DXVA1 for use in VRM9, but not for H264 content. That seems to back up my findings Sad

I'd really like to move to Windows 7 for better Blu-ray (HD audio) support, but I don't want to miss out on gbpvr's enhanced (in my opinion) feature set with VRM9. I need negative aspect ratio scaling, and I'd really miss live TV/menu mixing.
