Black screen on QAM viewing

Hi Sub,

The patch for the HVR1800 worked for me to get my scans. Thanks. Now I am getting a black screen when I select a known good frequency from the guide. Logs are complaining about a missing DLL?

It looks like you need to go onto the Decoders screen and set your decoders. Its not finding the decoders currently specified (which were the defaults from my machine).

You were correct, the defaults were all selected. But then I changed to the exact setting from my gbpvr setup, (mostly ffdshow and AAC filter) and still get the same thing. Here is the new log. Do I have to restart anything, if so how?

You'd need to post the NPVR.log.

ffdshow has a white list of applications the decoder will be used with. You might need to add NextPVR.exe to that.

Sorry, I changed to a different codec and got a picture. Funny thing is I had sound with the ffdshow decoder, then I just changed the VIDEO decoder and got a picture without sound! Anyway , then I crashed NPVR with another decoder. Now nothing seems to work. I think I killed recording service or something. Is there a way to recover from this without a reboot?

It depends what has happened. If the device itself has crashed, then you'll most likely need to reboot. If NRecord.exe has crashed it'd likely have given you a message on the screen about a crash.mdmp being generated, and NRecord.exe wont be in the process list any more. You could fix that by running 'services.msc' and restarting the 'NPVR Recording Service'.

Good info. I rebooted and with a new set of filters, it works! So far so good. Thanks. I will try to keep the dumb questions to a minimum (difficult for me though):o
