After having lots of problems scanning channels recently with GBPVR, I've taken the plunge and rebuilt my PC with NPVR 1.5.21 and have to say that the scanning is now fantastic! So much quicker, finds more channels, no problems!
On the whole everything else is good too, but I do have one or two issues/queries.
Previously I had VMR Fullscreen Exclusive selected. That option no longer exists. I'm running XP, am I correct in thinking EVR is only for Vista users? Should I choose VMR7,9 or Overlay? Possibly related, I couldn't run the link that sub gave to the latest DirectX (as it's for PCs with an internet connection - mine is stand-alone). So, I downloaded directx_Jun2010_redist.exe and ran the DXSetup application it contained. Do I have the correct DirectX version as a result?
I also used my old .net file which is version 2.0 - is that adequate?
When fast-forwarding, GBPVR used to display a timeline at the top of the screen so that you could see where in the recording you were. NPVR doesn't seem to have this, is there a way to turn one on?
In the past, I've avoided using .ts file and stuck with .dvr-ms, because I've never really got them to play properly (mainly issues with skipping forward/backward etc). I've always suspected the decoder, so I have now installed ffdshow beta 7 and wondered whether anyone has any optimum settings? I currently have the deinterlace checkbox ticked, but everything else is default. I've selected ffdshow for all my video/audio decoders.
Finally, I can't seem to get it to start automatically. If I put a shortcut in Startup (like I did for GBPVR), it doesn't start. What's the 'official' way to get it to launch fullscreen on startup?
Sorry if that's a bit long winded!
