NPVR Aspect Ratio when playing videos from Videos screen

Is there easy way of extending the work done here to handle SD analog recordings a little better in NPVR? That is all recordings are marked as 4:3 even though almost all programmes are broadcast in 16:9 mode nowadays. Having to press F7 at the start of every recording is annoying and impacts the WAF (especially as GB-PVR had a workaround).

Even being able to optionally default the global (though prefer per card or channel) AR to fill (from auto which it defaults to) would reduce the problem.

Alternatively has anyone found a utility that can be run from postprocessing.bat to change the AR bit in the file?

Currently this (and not yet having resume in videos) are the only things I miss from GB-PVR, loving NPVR so far. Thanks again.

In addition I see from this thread (link) that in GB-PVR this could be done via the aspect ratios in the config.xml file. This does not work in NPVR which also does not have an initial "auto" definition entry.

Just an observation that may or may not relate - I've had AR problems testing NPVR 1.5.31 with SD analog, and SD programing on HD stations. I'm running XPsp3, VMR9, using Arcsoft decoders. I noticed that the video decoder had DVXA2.0 support turned on - when I turned off DXVA2.0 (w/ DXVA1.0 on), all my AR problems ceased.

I don't think it is connected as the auto AR forces 4:3 display based on what the recording file says. I am using EVR on Windows 7 so not certain if relevant. Thanks

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out for awhile how the "Auto" aspect ratio works in NPVR. As far as I can tell Auto works independantly of the other defined aspect ratios, rather than choosing one of them. I had my aspect ratios set in GB-PVR so that it would automatically unletterbox and crop 16:9 broadcasts to fill my 4:3 tv; I've not been able to accompish this in NPVR, I have to hit F7 every time I start watching TV and almost every time I change channels. I asked sub awhile ago to elaborate on how Auto works in NPVR, but didn't get a response and haven't pestered him since about it.
