Hi sub!

nPVR is running configured on the server. nPVR is running in clientmode on a workstation. Pathes are doublechecked (i use the same, which i am using with GB-PVR atm). Firewall is disabled and machines are restarted.

Every time i try to start live tv from the client, i geht the message "unable to find capture device" on the client. The pointing to database is working. What could this be? The logs are really quiet about this and says nothing important / related.

Btw., i don't think that it is a good idea to put the nPVR data folder into the public one of windows 7. To get client / server mode working, i have to open the sharing for all public folders. Another problem is, that the entry \\hushpc\NPVR for the database could be misunderstanding. The path under windows 7 is \\<server\users\public\NPVR (and that is why i dislike the placement of this data into this folder. i can not control the sharing only for this folder.)
And the 2nd problem is currently, if someone mistypes this path and nPVR (client) will not find the database of the server, then the only option to "repair" this is to open the config.xml file and put the path inside. If you try to change the path after this error within the client nPVR, then the setting will NOT be saved (it's using no database). This should at least changed, so that after an error like not finding the server database, the local one will be used.
You like nPVR? Then please help pay the bills, and keep the project alive!

I didn't like the choice of \User\Public for NPVR originally when 1.5 came out, but when I installed the client it finally made a lot of sense to me. Who cares if \User\Public is shared to your home network users? Afterall that is the purpose of this folder.

I've had the unable to find tuners problem a lot too.

I had the same issue and also found that I had to fix it in config.xml as well. A "browse to" option would be much easier for newer users. I like it in the public folder. It is much better than in the program files directory.

You dont need to share all public folders. Do what I do and just share C:\users\public\NPVR, and my path is \\server\npvr

Mine ended up being \\dvr3\public\npvr I had to add the "public" or it did not work. (the server is a vista box if that matters)

If i try this, then a "public folder" special window appears. I can not share the nPVR folder alone; windows 7 let me choose (extended share) if i want to activate the sharing for the public folders, or if i want to disable this. Not like all other folders, where i can explicit choose the folder i wish to share.
Are we really using the same os? ;D Look:

I browse to Users\public\NPVR, rightclick the folder, select sharing, extended sharing and instead selecting the sharingname or users, the right window popups.

PS: I hate the homenet (the 1st thing i disable on every win7 installation) and the library feature. It's really annoying... but not topic here. Tongue

The topic is: There can't be find any capture card if i want to watch live tv. If i try to record something from epg, then i get the message, that there is no tuner available. oO And yes: For testing purposes i have of course shared the public folder. I can see local the epg from the server.
