wanted simple audio editor

anybody know of a simple audio editor that can do fades/cuts, handle mp3's and is simple to use?
i have cooledit pro but it's wayy too complicated for a newbie[it's not for me]
i remember a simple editor that came with soundblaster hardware..but can't find it..
and preferably free..

Wavosaur...does it all plus has some nice advanced features...
single executable and no install necessary..[great for thumb drives] and freeware..

Audacity is nice too...but maybe a prob for win7?
i have a super-novice user that needs to cut/fade mp3s so will see which one he likes better..

yep.looks like Audacity it is, as wavosaur doesn't save mp3...only opens them...
