I wasn't interested but a friend was and he says his 'free' download only worked for 5 minutes. He had tried a few files and all stopped at the 5 minute mark. What's the use of giving out a serial key if it's not going to do more than 5 minutes of video? I'm thinking either he did something wrong or they screwed up.

Upon further googling, I've found several posts regarding just that. First, there seems to be somesort of adware (although you can refuse to install it), then the serial, and installation can only be used one time, and only if done on that day (of the freegiveaway), and it won't work again ever.
We (in Portugal) have a saying that goes along this lines: "When the dole/charity is a large one, the poor man gets suspicious." (not sure about the grammar)
