A lot of people seems to have problems with their multicore cpus under windows 7 x64 if they try to get advantage of the "real" S3 mode.
Many systems just go only in ACPI S1 mode (easy to recognize: the fans inside the pc are running).
But these systems hadn't (as example) absolutely no problem with this under windows vista x64 or even windows 7 x86. This seems to be a bug inside windows 7 x64.
If you're looking for solutions, or help, then you'll see just a bunch of useless informations. "Install mce standby tool*!" (*replace this piece of software with any other 'solution'). But this is no "solution". It's not even a workaround.
So, if you are searching more, then 'perhaps' you'll find the information of a existing 'hotfix' for windows 7 x64. The hotfix is known under the name 'Windows6.1-KB977307-x64'. You can get it here.
Yeah, one of my systems had this problem. I have just found the (working) solution. Over 17 weeks i searched for the solution. Played around with 'powercfg -energy', tested different firmwares and a lot of different bios settings.
Finally... peace... S3 is working well. I am happy. Hopefully this information can help one or two people with the same problems...
