...it broke the ability of my NPVR box to go into standby.

SP1 for Windows 7 has been pretty widely reported in the online media as being a bit of a nothing update. Apart from a couple of obscure fixes, it's basically just a roll up of all the fixes that have been distributed over windows update since 7 first came out.

My PVR is running NPVR 1.5.36 with all the hotfixes on Windows 7 x64 and used to run flawlessly, until SP1. I can only recommend that you don't bother installing it.

I updated 2 machines last week and haven't noticed this problem or any other problems.
You can uninstall the service pack if you want through the control panel. Just click on the 'view installed updates' on the left and find 'Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB 976932)' to uninstall.
For me, doing most of the regular updates, a great majority of SP1 was already installed. I'm still keeping an eye out to see if I notice anything. You might also want to see if there is a BIOS update for your system that will possibly help with your problem.

Hi,
SP1 broke my Iphone4 and had to restore to get it working again.
As I am running Windows 64 also I was wondering what you use for a capture card.
I have GBpvr on an old XP machine running a pvr250 that will not work in the windows 7 machine.
All attempts to move to NPVR have failed so I was hoping to get a new card and use windows 7 64

I have a number of tuners I use with NPVR. I have the HDHomerun, HVR2250 HVR1600 and the HVR950Q (USB). I'm connected to cable and haven't played with OTA in about a year. I have 2 machines running W7 Ultimate x64 both updated to SP1.
Since you were using a PVR250, I don't know if you are interested in analog only or digital. I rarely even look at analog now.

I've also installed SP1 on 2 machines running W7 HP x64 with no apparent problems.
I have been experiencing occasional freezes# of the HT-PC which I recently noticed were much more common using HDMI Audio out, I'm hopeful the issue has been resolved with SP1

# The freezes occurred when turning on the TV and AV receiver when the pc was on, usually it was on because it was recording. They were temporary, lasting 2-10 min, the pc would not respond to keyboard, mouse or remote at all, but the recording service continued if a recording was in progress, it was not affected. This almost never happened using SPDIF Audio out.

Just an update, I spent some time updating all my device drivers. I was already running the latest BIOS, so there was nothing to do there. Having updated everything else, the problem seems to have been resolved. I guess I had a device driver that didn't allow the machine to go to sleep post SP1.
