i dont see any svideo ports listed in the devices section under QAM tuner or ATSC tuner
i read the wiki on how to check the analogdevices.xml file and it looks correct, i didnt have to change it.

i am using directv running into the svideo port and its works on the old legacy version.

If you dont get an analog device listed, then its mostly because you dont have the MainConcept mux filter installed. See the sticky thread or wiki for info. Basically this component comes with the Hauppauge SoftPVR software.

ok i finally got to play, right now i am stuck configuring channels. i selected my blaster exe as IR.exe, when i select scan a box pops up saying found ir blaster E2 and then a few seconds later another box pops up saying device failed to start. i can manually run the blaster config program and it successfully sends the correct codes to the receiver though. i also checked allow external apps to use it.

A couple of things sound wrong with what you're doing:

I'm not sure why you've set the blaster as IR.exe. I'm pretty sure that's Hauppauge's IR receiver aka remote control software. If you're want to use the Hauppauge retail blaster then select theset top box in the Hauppauge BlastCFG software, then configure your channels to use the haupblast.exe utility as the blaster.

The thing is you mentioned "scanning". Scanning is only applicable to channels you're going to receive via your tuner, like traditional cable channels. If you've got a set top box connected via svideo, then you shouldnt be scanning. You should be either manually entering your channels, or importing them from an xmltv file, or from a schedules direct account.

i did some more reading and your right, i now set the blaster to the haupblast.exe file in the nvpvr directory and imported my xmltv files so the channels show up now in the analog device screen. i tried the wintv7 program to see if it errors out and it says no tuners available although in the devices tab it shows up as available. nvpvr just pops up with device cannot be started but i do see the channel change on the DTV receiver so haupblast is working. now i just gotta figure out why the device wont start. it works in gbpvr fine.

i reinstalled the drivers from the new happauge package and the wintv7 software then rebooted still same thing...

I really appreciate your help

Is the device in use in some other software? This could account for it not starting when NPVR tries.
