You might want to try forcing it by unplugging the antenna or something.

I took your advice, sub, and disconnected the cable. Then I tried to record the end of Will & Grace. The DCR "tuned" to the channel, the .ts file was created but stayed at 0 bytes. And the end of the post-padding period, the NRecord thread "hung" after the stopping graph message in the log file. The logs are attached.
