Drudgereport is reporting that Steve Jobs has died. At the time of this writing, they give no other info.

How sad it happened a day after the updated news came out.

Sad to hear. Was that the guy with the Apple? (no not Isac Newton...)

Yes, he was the Apple CEO. A brilliant mind who probably did everything and more he wanted to.

Man, I heard that Apple was making an announcement and I brushed it aside with a snide comment. I regret that now. All fanboyism and personal preferences aside, it's truly a sad day in the history of computing.

The sadness goes beyond just computing. I'm not sure who could have done for Pixar what he did. Part of me wonders if they might still be doing effects instead of making features without a little vision behind them. There was huge cultural resistance to abandoning traditional animation. If someone ordinary had been at the helm of Pixar, I'm not sure they would have weathered that resistance well. I don't think Apple will ever meet my mobile needs, but Pixar really captivates me, all the more because the magic isn't in the technology. The most shallow Pixar movie puts Avatar to shame in the spheres of story-telling, character development and narrative depth.

I was beginning to think that I was the only person that thought that.
