Hello,
I'm new to gbpvr and have some question about using front end for gbpvr.
As i have a small backend config, i can not use it for realtime mpeg4 transcode.
It seems that gbpvr work with media mvp only, but should it be done to support other media front end ?
At this time, the
DLink DSM320
DSM 320 Extended Info
or ADSTech MediaLink

are not so high cost product (~120 / 160euro) instead of (70/110 for mvp) and they process mpeg4 / divx files with hardware ic, support 54G wifi...

should such product be used in later time with gbpvr ?

maybe the mvp frontend should be a plugin for gbpvr so that over front end should be supported

I believe this is the advantage of the DLink and ADS units: The MVP requires a server to operate.... The DLink and ADS units are stand-alone, and will operate without any other dedicated host. They are self-contained clients within themselves.... If you wanted to watch live TV on one of these units, you could share the GB-PVR temp folder and manually play the temp file with the set-top box. This would not allow you to remotely change channels, though, so maybe some support to this end could be added. The problem is, that Sub really has no way to add support without physically owning the device. If anyone has friends at ADS or DLink(or a device to donate), I'm sure Sub would be happy to promise support if one or both of the devices were to be donated to him. Support for these devices would be cool, though, as the problem with the MVP is that it doesn't natively support Divx, so you have to use much more bandwidth to transfer video than you would had it supported Divx or WMV.....
